Camera Comparison

I decided to test the difference between my old camera (Fujifilm Finepix S700) against my new one (Canon Powershot SX10 IS). The conditions, lighting, angle, and settings were exactly the same for both cameras (or as close as humanly possible). I used the macro setting on both cameras only because the Fujifilm wouldn't focus on the subject otherwise (downfall #1).
Big difference! The Fujifilm severely lacks in low-light situations and that was my biggest problem with it. I really prefer to use natural light when I can and I only use flash when it's absolutely necessary or if it's just a candid shot. I used natural light from a nearby window to provide the lighting for these shots and I definitely think the Canon excelled in the shadow vs. highlight department. I didn't mess with the ISO on either camera for these - they were both set on Auto. There is evidence of some chromatic aberration with both, but it does seem to be less on the Canon's version. The mega-pixel difference (7.1-10.0) does indeed make a visible difference, as the Fujifilm just isn't as clear and crisp as the Canon. Wow. And that's why I got a new camera, folks!
