Talk about a simple, yet challenging assignment! How do you make such an everyday item we all take for granted look interesting??? I decided after this assignment came out that I would try and got for something humorous to be unique, so starting the great doll chair hunt.
I went ALL over town trying to find a doll's chair that wasn't more expensive than a real chair, but I couldn't find anything! Finally, as a last resort, I stopped off at Imagination Station (a puzzle, game, and learning toy store) in hopes that they would have SOMETHING. I scoured the shelves and found a doll's chair for $70 - yeah right! I got my real, big, comfy chair for less! Discouraged, I was getting ready to leave when one of the employees came around the corner and asked me if I needed help. I tried to explain exactly what I needed and why I needed it without sounding like a complete weirdo. She pointed out a dollhouse living room set that came with this little rocking chair (seen in photo), but it was $30! Still too much! Discouraged again, I told her that all I needed was the little chair. She pointed out that they had the same chair out of the set as a "sample" (where the kids could play with some of the toys) and she would ask her manager if she could sell me just the chair. $3 later (still kind of stiff if ask me!), I happily brought my little chair home and took my DPS assignment.
Now the next challenge: make it look interesting. I had a couple different ideas, but nothing really popped like I was hoping. So, I took the photo as is and hoped that post editing would make, not break, my entry. Here's what I came up with:

I thought a vintage look (Photoshop action found here) would make my photo stand out. Here's the original photo:

Everyone is taking pictures of life-sized kitchen chairs, rocking chairs, and lounging chairs, so hopefully I remain unique! My goal is never winning, just to be different from the pack. That's also, unfortunately, the greatest challenge!
