I finally got my picturesque, autumn shoot!

I finally got a shoot!

I have to admit - when Mom came to me to claim her free shoot, I started panicking. Not because of them; they're incredibly sweet people. I hadn't had a real shoot in TEN MONTHS (which was kind of blessing, since we were insanely busy this summer). I was scared to death! I mean, two quarters with nothing in the books - I thought it was the beginning of the end for MP. Just another failed attempt. And would I still be able to take decent portraits after all this time? Have I ever been able to? I freaked. I'm kind of glad that we had to postpone our first shoot to wait for the leaves to change more. It gave me a chance to chill out, pray, and get my game plan in place. God has His timing!

So, we met up at the gorgeous College of Southern Idaho campus. We may have a small college, but it has the most lovely landscaping! The day - the temperature, the overcast sky, the colors - were PERFECT. It's as if God Himself had set the scene just for us. Nervously, I started, but soon we were all laughing and having a blast (Dad later commented, "That was fun!"). We were on the same page with all the posing ideas and they were willing to be open and playful. I have never had a shoot go so smoothly in my whole career. It was a major blessing. I prayed and PRAYED the night before He would allow the shoot to go well - to bring Him glory, to serve my friends, to mend my broken confidence.

The Allemans are an incredibly special family. If I may tell a little of their story - they suffered through the death of five babies (stillborn and miscarried) and multiple failed adoptions before being blessed with their precious little boy (who is the same age as Drew - they're buddies). These pictures mean a lot to them, since they are the first professional shots they've had taken of them as a family. I knew the pressure was on. I HAD to do this and I HAD to do this well. By the grace of God, they were pleased. Quite pleased.

I'm pretty happy with them, too. =) May God be glorified.

 

FYI: Dad is 6'7".
